Welcometo the web portfolio of Graphic Designer Christopher Bruce Sabine. The purpose of this site is to promote myself and my design, so you can see the kinds of things that I am capable of. I design on a Mac, using Adobe Suite products. The things I do are layout driven, and based in clean and elegant typography. I use nature, mathematics, and serifs as my inspiration. I love to design in full colour, full screen and with a lot of impact. I am always fueled to create and if I can continue designing for the rest of my life I will die a whole soul.

Lately I've been doing a lot of web stuff, including server scripting with PHP, and managing sites for CMS! But, however, I really want to jump into some serious logo design, layouts, print ads, and magazine style stuff in the future! I'm currently working for a company called Imprint-Depot & Coach Depot, but I am looking to find a new position soon. I really want to work somewhere around other designers! I want to learn and grow under the wings of experienced creative minds! Please check out my Curriculum Vitae, and never hesitate to contact me with any sort of inquiry, I'd really appreciate it!

Imprint depot is a company that specializes in custom print items. They can print everything from whistles or bottles to skateboards or laptops! They needed an identity and a website that represented their full range of colour capabilities in an edgy, eyecatching graffiti-style! I created a website and logo for them.  Check out the website

I recently re-designed their website for them. Their new website is smoother, simpler, and sexier (more…)

So “BLOMHA” (Burlington Lions Optimist Minor Hockey Association) asked me to do an anniversary logo to celebrate their 60th season. This logo is something that will be used on all promotional material and the children’s hockey jerseys as a corporate identity throughout the next hockey season. I presented two ideas to them and the above was selected! A few tweaks were made. It looks pretty coo’. There’s another design after the break that was not selected.

Coachdepot is a supplier of sport-coaching supplies to professional hockey, basketball, volleyball, baseball, football(…) coaches around the world. They provide custom imprinting via their subsidiary ”imprint-depot“, and an online shopping cart on this website for the majority of their sales. Seeing as their sales are heavily reliant on website traffic – this website was intended to make them appear more sleek, up to modern standards, secure, and reliable. I re-designed this website without being asked to do so. I am a part of the company and I wanted their website to make me proud to work for them. It does. I designed this website basing it on the existing back-end but adapted it to web standards as well as my own standards. Please visit Coachdepot.com to see my design.

For a school project, I was asked to name and develop a Cirque Du Soliel show. I came up with the concept of Himemori, based around the title character of Princess Mononoke (an animated film by Hayao Miyazaki) (IMDB). I decided to center the story around the wolf princess herself, instead of Prince Ashitaka. The general themes and setting are still very much similar – the wolf girl is an orphan raised by wolves protecting the forest of the gods and spirits from the advancing human civilization.

30 Second Video Loop

This short loop to promote the show was designed to go on LCD displays’ at the venue. It captures the old fantasy story mood and adventure/battle atmosphere!

Varoom is a popular Illustration magazine based in the UK. I felt their ‘illustrated lettering edition’ could use a little re-design so i went to work. The new design sports a “spine sleeve”, which contains promotional bookmarks featuring illustrators from within the book. — More shots after the break!

The Original Design

A lot of people ask me what I didn’t like about the original design. I can’t really give a straight answer to that. It is a cool look, it’s liquidy and dynamic and eye-catching! However the weird old-mayonaise colour kind of turns me off immediately. Also the illustrative text which reads “this is illustration” is almost too obvious to be inspiring. No one can read it (I asked around) — this turns people away! I like to be compelled by typography, personally, but to be baffled by it is another thing all-together!

This was what I chose to re-design
